Everyone used to be familiar with The Little Herald and Chester Chatter. Now, not so much. But there is a group of students at Lime Springs-Chester Elementary who are trying to revive the old student newspaper.
They have been meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays, when advisor Miss Kanessa Jones, doesn’t have prior commitments. Student reporters are Kolby Forino (fourth grade), Autumn Nelson (fifth), Amiah DeWolf (fourth), Mattie Slavin (third), Harry Kitchen (fourth), Lyanne Wells (fourth), Alexis Gosnell (fifth), McKenna Brandt (fourth) and Kyleigh Boehmer (third).
The nine students have come up with some fun ideas for a page, which will be put in the Lime Springs Herald at least once a month. The first issue will make its debut in the January 27 issue.
They will have several ongoing columns—such as a school and community calendar (letting folks know what is going on in and out of school), a birthday calendar, student spotlight and Cadet classroom (where they will explain what is happening in school). There will also be other articles about school happenings.
Some other thoughts are talking to former students to see what school was like when they attended and having a question of the month.
Get ready for a great addition to the Lime Springs Herald—written by the kids!
