Hope Souhrada, 91, Lime Springs

Hope Souhrada, 91, of Lime Springs, Iowa passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa.  Funeral services were held on December 22, 2010 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cresco. Burial will occur in the spring at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs.  Lindstrom Funeral Home is handling the arrangments.

Snow for Christmas

No, it’s not time for the Christmas issue—that comes next week, but the snow arrived in time for Santa’s December 24 flight!

LS Council hears updates

The Lime Springs City Council had a variety of items to discuss at its meeting on December 7. Various departments also gave reports.
Fire Board/Department
Fire Chief Tony Roberts said, “We did good at the party on Sunday (Christmas in Lime Springs). Everything went well.”
Mayor Barb Robinson reiterated, “The raffle went well and the paperwork has been submitted to Alliant to get $2,000 back.” The raffle was for helping pay for the Jaws of Life.
She said a 50 percent grant from the DNR to provide the department with grass fire fighting equipment includes shovels, spades and nozzles was received.
Roberts also said the mutual aid agreement had been returned from Cresco.
The fire chief asked for permission to attend area parades in 2011 without having to go before the Council for each parade and was granted permission.

Christmas Giveaway winners drawn this week

The second set of winners in the Lime Springs Christmas Gift Giveaway were announced. Surprisingly not one Lime Springs address was drawn, but that just means those from other towns are spending some time in our town! Drawing winners were Matt Miner and Brian Vrieze of Cresco, Brandy Petsche of Chester and Mike Strain of Elma.

Donald Dohlman, 78, LeRoy

Memorial services for Donald D. Dohlman were held Saturday December 11, 2010 at the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev Elaine Siemsen officiating. Burial took place in  the Chester Hill Cemetery.
Donald Dean Dohlman was born March 15, 1932 to Henry and Kate (Buseman) Dohlman. He attended school through the 8th grade in Kesley, Iowa and served in the United States Army from 1952-1954 spending eight months in Korea.
On May 7, 1955 he was united in marriage to Wanda Tebay at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa and they had six children: Lynn, Debbie, Terry, Jay, a stillborn son, and Karen. After their marriage they lived in Floyd, Mason City, Hudson, and Dike, Iowa before moving to their farm in Howard County Iowa in 1962.
