Pheasants Forever banquet

Upper Iowa River Pheasants Forever will be having its 19th annual banquet on March 5 at the Chester-Lime Springs Community Center in Chester.
One hundred percent of the net profits are spent locally. Some of the projects previous banquets have financially supported include:
~ Subsidizing the cost of trees, food plots (cash payment and free seed) and wild grass seed
~ Fire fighting equipment for the Chester, LeRoy and Lime Springs Departments was donated, which will help control grass fires on CRP.
~ Lime Springs Fish and Game for habitat enhancement
~ Howard County Conservation board for land acquisition
~ LeRoy Rod & Gun Club for hunter safety
~ Lime Springs hunter safety program towards the purchase of a trap thrower
~ Orange hats are given to all hunter safety graduates.
Officer Rick Ullom noted, “We have also purchased two tree planters and a three-point seeder. When winters are bad, such as this one, we do our best to get food to our needy pheasant population. All this takes money and that is why we need your support.”
The evening will start at 5:00 p.m. with a free, must-be-present-to-win drawing at 6:00 p.m. for a $200 dollar ticket package.  The bar, provided by Laddy’s, will open at 5:00 and at 7:00 the Travel Lanes of LeRoy will serve an all-you-can-eat three meat meal with all the extras.
Following supper, there is the large raffle and auction. One of the special prizes for women is a $1,000 pair of diamond earrings, from Laskers of Rochester, which is part of a separate raffle.
Only limited tickets are being sold. If you would like to attend please contact Tom Cray of Chester at 563-565-2535 during working hours; Rick Ullom at 563-565-4271; or Bob Ullom at 319-240-6174. Prices are $50 dollars for membership and $35 for spouse or non-membership. Tickets will not be sold at the door, so call before Saturday.
