Cars broken into at LS

Seven individuals from Lime Springs reported some thefts and rifling through vehicles Monday night, Tuesday morning, March 14-15 to the Howard County Sheriff Department.
Sheriff Mike Miner said items were stolen from three of the vehicles and the others were just rummaged through.
Lisa Smith: business cards were stolen and thrown away at Johnson Farms
Jessica Pierce/Jody Beck: car rummaged through
Tyler Smith: spotting scope stolen
Barry Smith: high power rifle, spotting scope and binoculars stolen
Scott Jenkins: change stolen
Doug DeVries: car rummaged through
Sheila Martens: car rummaged through
Miner said some items were also stolen in the Greenleafton area on Sunday/Monday March 13-14. When talking with Fillmore County Sheriff’s Department it was supposed the Greenleafton damage was done by local kids and probably unrelated to the Lime Springs thefts.
Another theft was reported on Monday morning, March 21. An elk mount and bobcount mount were taken from the Fish and Game Club House between 2:30 Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. Estimated loss is at $1,500.
Miner said the thefts are still under investigation and anyone with information needs to call the Sheriff’s Department at 563-547-3535. He observed all the cars in Lime Springs had been unlocked.
He suggests residents should “lock cars and remove valuables. It’s pretty quiet in Lime Springs, but it can still happen in small towns.”
