Flag project unfurled

The Lime Springs Junior Community Club’s Flag Program has been a huge success since it began in 2004. Now it is time to contract again. Letters are going out with the Lime Springs water bills, but they may not reach everyone. So here is your invite to purchase a flag.

Those living out of town, can purchase a flag to be put in Brown Park.

Something new this year is a small metal plate that will be placed over the hole to make the receptacles easier to see. If a homeowner or business does not like the receptacle, please contact a Junior Club member or the number at the bottom of this article.

The LSJCC will place a quality 3’ x 5’ nylon American Flag with a 10’ staff in participating yards early in the morning of each holiday listed below. They will be taken down in the evening, cleaned and stored for the next time.

All of the labor is donated by the club members and their families. The LSJCC will be responsible for replacing flags subject to wear and tear, theft and vandalism.

The cost for residences will be $25.00 and includes the following holidays: Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Sweet Corn Sunday and Labor Day.

The cost for businesses with a receptacle on the building will be $30.00 and includes the above holidays plus Veterans Day. (Businesses that have a ground receptacle should pay $25.00 and will not have a flag on Veterans Day due to possible weather.)

Club members ask that if a marker is left where the flag is planted, please help keep it there. Sometimes it is hard to find where to put the flag early in the morning without a marker.

All of the proceeds go for projects in Lime Springs. Make the check to LSJCC, PO Box 291, Lime Springs, IA 52155 or give the payment to any club member. Any questions, please call Marcie Klomp at 563-566-2687-day or 563-566-2631-night.
