Lucille Wolfe, 98, Chester

Lucille Rose Wolfe, 98, of Chester, Iowa, passed away Dec. 8, 2011, at the Evans Memorial Home in Cresco, Iowa.

Lucille was born on March 29, 1913, in Howard County, Iowa, the daughter of Louis and Anna (Horjesi) Zobeck. She attended rural country schools in Howard County.

Lucille was united in marriage to Carl Wolfe in April of 1931, at the Bear Creek Lutheran Church in Racine, Minn. She was a homemaker. Lucille was a member of the United Lutheran Church in Chester, for over 60 years, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aide.

Lucille lived in Howard County her entire life. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, cooking, reading and fishing. She especially enjoyed taking walks and watching over her grandchildren. Lucille was a wonderful seamstress, making many things, including wedding gowns.

She is survived by her children Roger (Elaine) of Chester, Karen Heggebo of Waterloo, Iowa and Margie (Chuck) Johnson of Elma, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Zobeck of New Hampton, Iowa; a sister, Dorothy (Reuben) Bartels of Rochester, Minn; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Anna; husband, Carl; daughter, Jean Rice; son-in-law Gary Rice; granddaughters Rhonda Rice and Annie Marie Johnson; great-granddaughter, Imogene Johnson; sister, Kathryn Drtina; and brothers, Charles, Dale, Nelson and Raymond Zobeck.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at United Lutheran Church in Chester. Inurnment took place at New Oregon Cemetery in rural Cresco. Lindstrom Funeral Home of Cresco was in charge of arrangements.
