C US Bank donation When C US Bank heard about the need for donations for a new truck for the Lime Springs Fire Department, it got out its checkbook. Fire Chief Tony Roberts accepted the check from VP Duane Johnson. The Lime Springs Fire Department is replacing its old cube van with a new vehicle that will carry equipment and personnel during emergencies.

The new truck is a 2001 International, built as a mid-size ambulance. It is being modified and will probably go into service mid-February. The truck will carry equipment and serve as a refuge for the firefighters while working. It has a heating and cooling system which will benefit the firefighters during emergencies.

The cost of the vehicle is $22,500 with $19,000 already donated or pledged. Three donations of $5,000 came from A&K Feed & Grain, C US Bank and another local business. Cresco Bank & Trust has pledged $2,500 and CIA Insurance has given $500.

Judy and Gene Mahr and Joyce and Greg Mahr each gave $250, while Missy’s, Mike Mahr and John Mahr each gave or have pledged $100. Councilman Kevin Bill has pledged three months of council wages.

There is still time to donate a few bucks to the cause before taxes. As always, when considering donations . . . think local.
