Edwards able to ‘talk’

Larry, Emma and Jill Edwards

It’s been over 10 years since Larry and Jill Edwards have heard the words “I love you,” from their daughter, Emma, formerly of Lime Springs, now of Rochester. In 2001, at the age of 16, Emma was in a car accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury. She suffers physically from the accident, but has retained her mental capabilities.

In December 2009 a benefit was held to help purchase a computer that would help her communicate. The cost was $15,000, but the computer was inferior to the new iPad Jill purchased for under $700.

It has been hard on the family since the accident, but things are looking up. Emma, can now speak through a Talk To Me app. and draw again through ArtRage.

In an interview on KTTC-TV, Emma wrote . . . and said, “I hope this gives other people with traumatic brain injuries hope that their lives aren’t over.”
