Phenomenon or trick?

These two brooms are not boogie-ing on the dance floor at KCDs, but they are standing unattended. Pictures of standing brooms have been making their appearance on Facebook and other places for a few weeks now.

One of the explanations is that Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury were all lined up together in the night sky a few weeks ago. Also, the vernal equinox took place March 20. It might even be that owner Vickie Ator did it while holding her breath and sticking out her tongue.

But, according to it’s all about coordination because alignment of the planets or the time of year has no effect on balancing brooms (or raw eggs) on end.

If it did, wouldn’t it be nice if instead of standing on their own, they swept on their own?
