SCD turning into MusicFest

Protivin and Wykoff have polka music. Bluffton has “Light up the Bluff.” And Spring Grove has Bluegrass Fest. Lime Springs is going to join their ranks pretty soon with the varied music going to played over Sweet Corn weekend on Aug. 10-12.

Curt Tienter updated the Community Club on all the events being sponsored by the group including the talent show on Friday night from 7-9 and then Guitarman from 9-closing (around 1:00 a.m.).

Saturday is much of the same with Star Karaoke from 6-9 and then Wicked Liquor for the street dance. Sunday, there is always entertainment for Ecumenical Church. In the afternoon, Tim’s Mobile Music will be playing at Brown Park.

Tienter is also getting a weekend-long flea market going. He has already had a few takers. So maybe it’ll be the flea/music celebration!

Something else new this year will be a bean bag tournament. It will be held on Main Street and hopefully enhance the barbecue contest.

Other than that, most of the activities are the normal tractor pull, pedal pull, crafters, FREE watermelon, FREE sweet corn and other vendors.

In other business, the Easter Egg Hunt will be April 7 at Brown Park. The youth are helping to fill the eggs again this year, which is a big relief for organizer Marcie Klomp!

The Omelet Breakfast, to benefit the pool, is April 29, and the Mother’s Day Luncheon is May 12. Dorene Burnikel and cohorts will be finding a program for the event.

A committee is working on applying for the Burma Shave grant from Our Iowa magazine.

The next meeting will be Monday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. Evelyn Truka offered to bring treats.
