Ready for Old Settlers

It took Elsbeth Richter two months to complete this queen-size quilt , but only a few minutes to decide where it would go. “I wanted to donate it to Old Settlers Day, because the Chester community has been so good to me.”

Raffle tickets fo the quilt can be purchased at C US Bank, Lime Springs until Friday, June 8. On Saturday, it can be seen at the Partners In Progress booth at City Park.

Richter has been making quilts since she was 13 years old. She has made quilts for all her kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, friends and churches. She gets help from Betty Roesler and daughter-in-law Connie Richter. She has made 45 quilts since 2005!

For this Double X Floral Design, it took her eight hours to hand embroider each square and four hours to hand quilt it.
