Richard ‘Dick’ Roberts, 90, LS, Wykoff

Richard “Dick” Roberts, age 90, of Wykoff, Minn., died Sunday afternoon, Aug. 5, 2012, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Dick was born Sept. 17, 1921 in Lime Springs, Iowa, the son of Archie and Pauline (Detra) Roberts. He was a 1938 graduate of Lime Springs High School. He farmed his entire life in the Lime Springs and Wykoff areas. He married Kathleen Heusinkveld Dec. 29, 1950, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church.

Dick was a member of the Wykoff United Methodist Church. He enjoyed coon hunting, fishing, gardening and fruit trees, traveling to Michigan for cherries and peaches, organizing the apple picking adventures in Dakota, Minn. and encouraging his children in 4-H endeavors. He loved his family, enjoyed all children, visiting, telling stories and playing cards.

Dick is survived by his wife, Kathleen; three children, David (Mary) Roberts of Wykoff, Nancy (Tom) Cummings of Edina and James Roberts of Owatonna; three grandchildren, Kristin and Katie Roberts and Ryan Cummings; and one brother, Wayne Roberts of San Antonio, Texas. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Jim, and one sister, Peg Decker.

The funeral will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at the Fillmore Free Methodist Church in Fillmore, Minn. 55990, with Rev. Amanda Larsen officiating. Burial will be in the Wykoff Cemetery. Friends may call at the Thauwald Funeral Home in Wykoff, 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, and at the church on Thursday an hour before the service. http://www.thauwaldfuneralhomes.com
