Isn’t that what parents want to hear? That teachers are excited about teaching their children. Well that is happening at Howard-Winneshiek.

Four Cresco Elementary first and second grade teachers, along with their principal, Mrs. Shirley Sovereign, attended a rejuvenating conference in April and gave summaries from their seminars to board members on May 20.

Pancake Day, June 2

Lidtke Mill’s 30th Annual Buckwheat and Buttermilk Pancake Day will be held the same day as City-Wide Garage Sales in Lime Springs on Saturday, June 1. Serving is from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. It will be held at the Community Center for a free-will donation. Proceeds will go toward maintenance costs.

Farewell for Pastor Candie

--church-candiePastor Candie Carey will begin a new assingment in New Hampton starting July 1. A farewell party is being held at Lime Springs United Methodist Church on Sunday, June 2 to wish her well. A potluck dinner will follow the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

Pastor Candie started preaching at Chester United Methodist in October 2002 and in Lime Springs the following July. Last year she agreed to add Riceville and McIntire churches to her parish. Now, she will be moving just a little south to New Hampton.

LS under boil order

Friday and Saturday, May 24-25, the residents of Lime Springs who purchase water from the town need to boil any water they use for consumption—including brushing their teeth. The new pump at the west well is being installed on Thursday.
