Betty Mohs, 86, Harmony

--obit-mohsBetty Mohs, age 86, of Harmony, Minn. died Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Gunderson Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wis.

Betty was born July 28, 1927 in Bristol Township of Fillmore County, Minn., the daughter of Milton and Gladys (Hovey) Cheney. At the age of six, her family moved to Lime Springs, Iowa, where she attended school. Betty worked at the Lime Springs IGA store for Wilbur Wells until she married Donald Mohs on Sept. 12, 1946 in Ostrander, Minn. Betty and Donald farmed in York Township for 21 years. In October 1967 they moved to Harmony, where Betty first worked for Heco for nine years and then Harmony Healthcare for 21 years prior to her retirement. Betty was a member of Greenfield Lutheran Church, an active member of the Esther Circle and was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary.

Betty loved traveling, quilting, camping, antiques and caring for her family and grandchildren. She was proud of her grand and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her husband, Donald Mohs of Harmony; three children, Richard (Vicki) Mohs of Brunswick, Mo., Janell (Dennis) Torgerson of Caledonia, Minn. and Randy Mohs of Harmony; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Donna Leverson of Lime Springs. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; a son, David, his wife Sandy and their son Dylan; and three siblings, Jean Terbeest, Marley Cheney and Roger Cheney.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. at Greenfield Lutheran Church in Harmony. Interment will be in Saetersdal Cemetery, Fillmore County. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23 at Lindstrom Funeral Home in Harmony.
