Randall L. Richter, 63, L. Springs

--obit-RichterRandall L. Richter, age 63, of Lime Springs, Iowa passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at his home with his family at his side.

Randall was born Oct. 8, 1951 in Germantown, Iowa to Lawrence and Elsbeth (Fiddelke) Richter. He was a 1969 graduate of Riceville High School, Riceville, Iowa. Following high school he attended Iowa State University at Ames, Iowa for one year, then entered the Army. While in the Army, he attained the rank of Sergeant and spent three years in Hawaii.

Following the Army he returned to Iowa State University where he graduated in 1977, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Ag Business. Early in his life, he farmed with his father. In the early 1980s his brother joined him in their hog and grain operations. Continue reading

Geneva Prinz, 86, Lime Springs

--obit-Prinz, GenevaGeneva Prinz, age 86 of Lime Springs, Iowa died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014 at Regional Health Services of Howard County in Cresco, Iowa.

Geneva I. Prinz was born March 23, 1928 in Lime Springs to Lucius and Laura (Monthy) Roesler. Geneva attended grade school and high school in Lime Springs, graduating in 1946. The family attended the Lutheran Church, where she and her brother Kenneth were confirmed. A favorite family activity was driving to Rochester on Saturdays where they just looked around and had something to eat. Most of their activities centered around their church. All during high school and college, Geneva was a hired girl at her grandma’s house on weekends and during the summers. At school, she enjoyed the sports activities, being a forward on the basketball team and playing softball. She just enjoyed school in general.

Joseph Meyer, 64, formerly LS

--obit-meyerJoseph Edward Meyer, age 64, died Sept. 20, 2014 at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1950. Early in his life, Joseph thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting and racing cars. Later in his life, he would hop on his mobility vehicle, drive to the shop and visit with his friends as they worked on the race cars.

He is survived by a sister Barb Ball (William); a sister Marilyn Meyer (Patricia McLean); his mother, Edith Meyer; a sister in-law, Judy Meyer; his girlfriend, Lisa Frank; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Meyer, and his brother, John Meyer.

A celebration of life will happen at a later date.

Terry Grant, 64, fmrly. Lime Springs

Terry Grant, 64, of rural Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away Monday, Sept. 1. He was born on July 22, 1950 to Marvin and Helen (Hayle) Grant at Harmony, Minn. He married Kathy Davis on April 3, 1971. The couple had three boys. He was manager at Lime Springs, Iowa Thermogas for many years.

Rita Tremoya, 89, Lime Springs

Rita Aquino Tremoya was born May 3, 1925 at Garchitorina, the Philippines to Ernesto and Aura (Del Rosario) Aquino. On Jan. 1, 1951 she married Primitivo Tremoya in the Philippines. The couple had eight children. She moved to Lime Springs, Iowa in 2001. She passed away Aug. 27, 2014.

Corwin E. Goodman, 88, frmly. LS

Corwin Ellis Goodman was born Dec. 26, 1925 to Paul and Mabel (Cory) Goodman in Marshalltown, Iowa. In 1927 the family moved to a farm six miles west of Lime Springs, Iowa. He attended country school in Chester Township and the ninth grade in Lime Springs. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948 at Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Funeral services were at the Lime Springs United Methodist Church in Lime Springs, Iowa on Tuesday Aug. 26, 2014 with Rev. Melanie Greengo officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs. Lindstrom Funeral Home in Cresco, was in charge of the arrangements.

Chelsey was born Jan. 21, 1998 in Fairmont, Minn., to Dennis and Terri (Henry) Morgan. She attended elementary school in Lime Springs, Iowa. When Chelsey was in sixth grade, the family moved to Lyle, Minn.

Carl A. O’Kada, 93, Cresco

--obit-okadaCarl A. O’Kada, age 93, of Cresco, Iowa passed away Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Patty Elwood Center in Cresco.

Carl Alburton O’Kada was born July 24, 1920 to Henry Terronobe and Violet Betsy (Betts) O’Kada in Nora Springs, Iowa. In 1938, Carl graduated from Cresco High School and moved to California. After high school, he joined the Army and served in WWII. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal. On Oct. 10, 1959, Carl was united in marriage to Georgia Anna Stovall in Las Vegas, Nev. Carl drove truck for Auto Fast Freight in Southern Clifornia and later drove for Wisconsin Dairies, after he and his family moved back to Chester, Iowa in 1979. He was a member of the Teamsters Union.

Allen Taylor, 50, Chester

Allen David Taylor was born on March 28, 1964 in Cresco, Iowa, son of Alvin and Bea (Berka) Taylor. He was baptized, celebrated his first communion and was confirmed at Holy Trinity Church in Protivin. Allen graduated with the Crestwood High School class of 1982. On Sept. 15, 1984, he married Janetta Crain at Holy Trinity Chuch; they later divorced. Allen farmed for several years and raised his family in the Protivin area. He enjoyed spending his leisure time snowmobiling, playing euchre, listening to polka, riding his motorcycle and cruising in his Pontiac Firebird. He enjoyed many squirrel hunting trips with his son, Nick. Allen especially loved spending time with his two grandchildren, family and friends.

Funeral services were held on Friday, June 20, at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Charles City, Iowa with Rev. Jane Keel and Rev. Linda Prestholt officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lime Springs, Iowa.

Donald was born in York, Minn. on June 6, 1924, the only child to Laura (March) and Ole Dahly. Donald was baptized at Saetersdal Lutheran Church near their family farm northeast of Lime Springs, Iowa. He was confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lime Springs. Continue reading
