End of school awards

Saying Goodbye Each of the students at Lime Springs-Chester Elementary put a hand-print on a poster as a going-away gift for Principal Rob Hughes. Due to budget cuts, his position was eliminated.

For the last time, Principal Robert Hughes congratulated the students on their efforts to achieve greatness in the prior year. (Hughes’ position was terminated due to budget cuts.)

Some classrooms gave their awards in class, but others recognized their students at the assembly on May 27.

The first class to be recognized was Mrs. Adams’ math class. Those going above and beyond their fellow students were Shannon Pisney and Amiah DeWolf. Fourth grader Amiah was already studying half-way into fifth grade and fifth grader Shannon was already into seventh grade curriculum.

Others progressing well in math over the year were Ross Niewoehner, Steven Dietz, Hunter Fousek, Kayley Menne, Jordan Rice, Mariah Gossman, Harry Kitchen, Cade Wenthold, McKenna Brandt, Lyanne Wells and Colby Forino.

Of her first year at Lime Springs-Chester Elementary, Ms. Peterson (first and second combined) said, “I’ve taught for 13 years and I have never had a class that is so curious and wants to learn!” Jackie Niewoehner was recognized for reading TWO books every night for four months! In math, Carter Fousek was recognized for his math skills.

Ms. Peterson listed all the first graders as remarkable readers. They included Kendel Slavin, Ashton Howe, Carter Fousek, Casandra Witt, Colten Miller, Dalin Kitchen, Dylan Rahlf, Garret Wenthold, Jackie Niewoehner, Jordan Fisher-Jantzen, Kody Menne, Kriya Atwell, Lyli Kunert, Trent Pisney and Trey Rankin.

Second graders were very helpful in helping the first graders throughout the year. Those great helpers were Abby Dietz, Andrew Hovey, AnnaMae Leverson, Austin Johnson, Cole Busch, Kaylea Gosnell, Kristen Kuhl, Logan Crofton, Mason Heem and Logan Hayes.

Mr. Hughes said how important it is to attend school and get in all the learning possible for the students. Attending school helps students get better grades. Those students recognized for perfect attendance for the entire year were Makayla Brown, Shannon Pisney, Hunter Fousek and AnnaMae Leverson.

Students from fourth and fifth grade who received As and Bs and named to the Honor Roll are: Lyanne Wells, Jordan Rice, Kayley Menne, Harry Kitchen, Mariah Gossman, Hunter Fousek, Amiah DeWolf, Sara Sanders, Shannon Pisney, Autumn Nelson, Adrian Kaski, Raymond Himli, Darian Gossman and Alexis Gosnell.

Community members who donated their time or supplies were also recognized.

Perfect attendance for the fourth quarters follows:

Kindergarten: Riley Roberts, Makayla Brown and Brandon Munkel.

First-Second: Ethan Craig, Ashton Howe, Lyli Kunert, Colten Miller, Jackie Niewoehner, Garret Wenthold, Kaylea Gosnell, Logan Hayes, Mason Heem, Kristin Kuhl and AnnaMae Leverson.

Third-Fifth: Cade Wenthold, Lyanne Wells, Harry Kitchen, Shelby Pisney, Gavin Murphy, McKenna Brandt, Colby Forino, Mariah Gossman, Sharon Goodman, Hunter Fousek, Riley Reis, Shannon Pisney, Darian Gossman and Alexis Gosnell.
