On a vote of 4-1, Howard-Winneshiek School Board members voted to close the Lime Springs school. Duane Bodermann was the only member to vote against the recommendation from Supt. John Carver.

Need stories about Herald

With Lime Springs Herald being absorbed by Times Plain Dealer, editor Marcie Klomp is planning on putting together a special section for the final issue of the newspaper on Feb. 12.

“Anybody with memories of former publishers Carl and LaVon Cassidy, Al and Eileen Evans and Barry and Sara Casebolt and current publishers Dan and Joyce Evans, please share them. Also why not let us know how long you’ve been receiving the paper?”

Council learns LS Beef will open in May/June

Lime Springs Council learned LimeSprings Beef’s opening date has been pushed back a month, at its Jan. 6 meeting. General Manager Michael Spinks admitted, “Last time I was here, we were hoping to open and kill cattle in 2014. We had a couple obstacles.”
