Lime Springs school to close —Preschool will move to Spring Ahead Learning Center

On a vote of 4-1, Howard-Winneshiek School Board members voted to close the Lime Springs school. Duane Bodermann was the only member to vote against the recommendation from Supt. John Carver.

Need stories about Herald

With Lime Springs Herald being absorbed by Times Plain Dealer, editor Marcie Klomp is planning on putting together a special section for the final issue of the newspaper on Feb. 12.

Council learns LS Beef will open in May/June

Lime Springs Council learned LimeSprings Beef’s opening date has been pushed back a month, at its Jan. 6 meeting. General Manager Michael Spinks admitted, “Last time I was here, we were hoping to open and kill cattle in 2014. We had a couple obstacles.”

Lime Springs Herald to print last newspaper in February

“It is after great thought and a heavy heart that Joyce and I are announcing the closing of the Lime Springs Herald in February,” said Publisher Dan Evans, co-owner of the weekly newspaper with wife, Joyce Evans.
